Direct Conflicts

  1. Add a Coincident mate between the bottom faces of two parts.

  2. Add a Perpendicular mate between the same bottom faces.

  • A conflict occurs because the same two faces cannot be both coincident and perpendicular:

Indirect Conflicts

  1. Add a Coincident mate between the bottom faces of Part 1 and Part 2.

  2. Add a Coincident mate between the bottom faces of Part 2 and Part 3.

  3. Add a Perpendicular mate between the bottom faces of Part 1 and Part 3.

  • A conflict occurs because the first two mates make the three bottom faces parallel or coincident. The third mate then requires Part 1 and Part 3 to be perpendicular, which contradicts the existing mate conditions.
