Toggle Driven/Driving Dimension

2026-5-25 under 1 minute

The Toggle Driven/Driving Dimension function is used to flexibly adjust dimensional constraint attributes in the 3D CAD sketch module. It allows quick conversion between driving and driven states for the same dimension.

  • Driving state: The dimension value acts as an active control parameter. Modifying it directly drives synchronous deformation of sketch geometry and associated solid features.

  • Driven state: The dimension serves only as a reference, reflecting current geometric parameters. Its value updates passively with sketch changes and cannot be edited manually.

Steps

  1. Click the "Toggle Driven/Driving Dimension" icon in the toolbar.

  2. Select a driving dimension to switch it to a driven dimension.

  3. To switch back: click the icon again, then select a driven dimension to convert it to a driving dimension.

  4. Continue selecting other dimensions as needed.

  5. Right-click or press Esc to exit.

Step 1 - Click the "Toggle Driven/Driving Dimension" icon in the toolbar:

Step 2-1 Select one driving dimension:

Step 2-2 The dimension is switched to a driven dimension:

Notes

  • If a dimension is identified as a redundant constraint, it will automatically display as a driven constraint and cannot be switched to driving.
